Course Description
Every structural CEU you need, from one provider. This series is built for Texas pest management professionals licensed through the TDA Structural Pest Control Service — certified commercial and noncommercial applicators and licensed technicians. Instead of one long course, it is delivered as eight standalone classes of one CEU each: ten narrated video lessons of about five minutes apiece, closing with a short quiz. Four classes cover the general-training CEUs every certified applicator needs, three cover the major certification categories, and a bed bug deep dive rounds out the technician training hours. SG1: Texas Structural Pest Control Act & Laws — 1 CEU · General
The legal framework for structural work: the Structural Pest Control Act and SPCS/TDA oversight, license types (certified applicator, technician, apprentice), business licensing and the responsible certified applicator, certification, exams and CEU requirements, use and application recordkeeping, consumer information and required disclosures, WDI inspection reports and pre-treatment rules, signage, notification and tenant requirements, pesticide storage, transport and disposal, and violations, enforcement and penalties. Qualifies for the required general CEU in federal & state laws.
SG2: Pesticide Safety & PPE (Structural) — 1 CEU · General
Applicator protection in structural settings: toxicity and routes of exposure, signal words and the structural pesticide label, selecting PPE for structural work, PPE care, storage and respirator use, safe handling, mixing and loading indoors, application safety around occupants and pets, personal hygiene and decontamination, recognizing poisoning and first aid, spill response inside structures, and crawlspace, attic and confined-space safety. Qualifies for the required general CEU in pesticide safety.
SG3: Environmental Protection & Pesticide Fate — 1 CEU · General
Where pesticides go after application: pesticide fate, runoff, leaching and volatilization, protecting groundwater and surface water, soil binding, persistence and degradation, non-target organisms including pollinators and beneficials, wildlife and aquatic life, endangered species and sensitive habitats, off-site movement around structures, container handling, triple-rinse and disposal, and environmental best management practices. Qualifies for the required general CEU in environmental protection.
SG4: IPM Principles (Structural) — 1 CEU · General
The decision framework behind modern structural pest control: why IPM, inspection and accurate pest identification, monitoring and documentation, pest biology and conducive conditions, sanitation and cultural controls, exclusion and mechanical controls, judicious chemical use and baiting strategy, thresholds and client communication, school and sensitive-site IPM requirements, and evaluating program success. Qualifies for the required general CEU in integrated pest management.
SC1: General Pest Control — 1 CEU · Category
The pest control category CEU: cockroach biology, identification and control strategies, ant biology, identification and control, rodent biology, control and exclusion, bed bug basics and inspection, occasional invaders — spiders, stored-product and overwintering pests — and application methods.
SC2: Termite & Wood-Destroying Insect Control — 1 CEU · Category
The termite category CEU: wood-destroying insects and their economic impact, subterranean termite biology, drywood and Formosan termites, other WDOs including carpenter ants, powderpost beetles and wood decay, inspection and the WDI report, conducive conditions and moisture management, liquid soil termiticide treatments, termite baiting systems, pre-construction treatments and physical barriers, and recordkeeping and warranties.
SC3: Lawn & Ornamental Pest Management — 1 CEU · Category
The lawn and ornamental category CEU: site assessment, turfgrass identification and culture, turf insect pests, turf diseases, weed management in turf, ornamental and landscape insect pests, ornamental diseases, fertilization and cultural practices, application equipment and calibration for L&O work, and environmental stewardship.
SD1: Bed Bug Management (Deep Dive) — 1 CEU · Deep Dive
A full CEU on the toughest account type: bed bug biology and life cycle, identification and signs of infestation, inspection techniques and monitoring, detection tools including canines and interceptors, non-chemical control — heat, steam and encasements — chemical control and resistance management, integrated treatment protocols, multi-unit and sensitive accounts, client preparation and follow-up, and documentation.

TDA Approval Information
These classes are built for the continuing education requirements of the Texas Department of Agriculture's Structural Pest Control Service (SPCS) — the agency that licenses structural pest management professionals in Texas. Each class is being filed with TDA as its own standalone 1-CEU course; TDA course numbers will be published here at launch. This is not a TDLR program, and it is separate from our agricultural applicator course — structural and agricultural licenses have different CE rules.

Texas Structural Pest Control CE Requirements
- Certified applicators: earn 2 general CEUs plus 1 CEU in each category on your certification — at least one general credit in laws, safety, environmental protection, or IPM
- Technicians: complete 8 hours of verifiable training each calendar year
- Earn your credits during the calendar year (Jan 1 – Dec 31) before the year you renew
- No CE is required during your first calendar year of certification
- Renew with TDA and pay the fee before your license expires; keep your certificates on file
Important Renewal Deadlines
Renewal Cycle: Annual — structural pest control licenses renew every year, with CE earned in the calendar year before the year of renewal
CE Requirement: Must be completed before your license expiration date
Late Renewal: Additional fees and penalties apply for renewals after expiration
Grace Period: Limited time to renew an expired license before reexamination may be required

How Do I Renew My Texas Structural Pest Control License?
Renewing a structural pest control license with the TDA Structural Pest Control Service involves four steps:
- Earn your CE during the calendar year before your renewal year — certified applicators need 2 general CEUs + 1 CEU per certified category; technicians need 8 hours of verifiable training
- Make sure at least one general credit is in laws & regulations, pesticide safety, environmental protection, or IPM — every general class in this series qualifies
- Submit your renewal through the Texas Agriculture Portal and pay the fee before your license expires
- Keep your CEU certificates with your business records — TDA can ask you to document your training

Frequently Asked Questions
How many CEUs do Texas structural certified applicators need?
Each year, certified commercial and noncommercial applicators need 1 CEU in every category in which they are certified plus 2 CEUs in general training, and at least one of the general credits must be in federal and state laws, pesticide safety, environmental protection, or integrated pest management. All four of our general classes qualify for that required credit.
What do technicians need?
Licensed technicians must complete 8 hours of verifiable training each calendar year. The full 8-class series is built to satisfy exactly that — that's the Technician 8-Hour Bundle.
When do the credits have to be earned?
During the calendar year (January 1 through December 31) before the year you renew. Credits earned in the wrong calendar year don't count, and no CE is required during your first calendar year of certification.
Are these classes sold individually or as a package?
Both. Every class is a standalone 1-CEU course with its own certificate, and we also sell bundles matched to the renewal rules: a Certified Applicator Renewal Bundle (two general classes plus your category classes) and a Technician 8-Hour Bundle (all eight classes).
How much will the classes cost?

When does enrollment open?
Fall 2026. The classes are complete and each one is being filed with the TDA Structural Pest Control Service as its own approved course; we open enrollment once course numbers are issued. Use the Notify Me button to be first in line.
Is this the same as your agricultural pesticide applicator course?
No. Agricultural applicators and structural pest control licensees are both regulated by TDA but under different programs with different CE rules. If you hold an agricultural commercial, noncommercial, or NCPS applicator license, you want our 5-CEU agricultural course instead.
Is this course approved by TDLR?
No, and it doesn't need to be. Structural pest control licensing in Texas is administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture's Structural Pest Control Service, not TDLR.
