Regulatory Requirements & Renewal Information
TDA Approval Information
These classes are built for the continuing education requirements of the Texas Department of Agriculture's Structural Pest Control Service (SPCS) — the agency that licenses structural pest management professionals in Texas. Each class is approved by TDA as its own standalone 1-CEU course. The General Pest Control Bundle is TDA #1004465 (Laws), #1004472 (Pesticide Safety) and #1004469 (General Pest Control); the Termite & WDO Bundle is #1004465, #1004440 (Environmental Protection) and #1004448 (Termite & WDI); the Lawn & Ornamental Bundle is #1004465, #1004443 (IPM) and #1004457 (Lawn & Ornamental). This is not a TDLR program, and it is separate from our agricultural applicator course — structural and agricultural licenses have different CE rules. Frequently Asked Questions
Which bundle do I need?
The one that matches your certification category. Certified in general pest control: the General Pest Control Bundle. Certified in termite / wood-destroying organisms: the Termite & WDO Bundle. Certified in lawn and ornamental: the Lawn & Ornamental Bundle. Each bundle is $69.99 for 3 CEUs - two general-training credits plus that category's credit.
What is in each bundle?
General Pest Control: SG1 Texas Laws (TDA #1004465), SG2 Pesticide Safety & PPE (TDA #1004472), SC1 General Pest Control (TDA #1004469). Termite & WDO: SG1 Texas Laws (TDA #1004465), SG3 Environmental Protection (TDA #1004440), SC2 Termite & WDI Control (TDA #1004448). Lawn & Ornamental: SG1 Texas Laws (TDA #1004465), SG4 IPM Principles (TDA #1004443), SC3 Lawn & Ornamental (TDA #1004457).
How many CEUs do Texas structural certified applicators need?
Each year, certified commercial and noncommercial applicators need 1 CEU in every category in which they are certified plus 2 CEUs in general training, and at least one of the general credits must be in federal and state laws, pesticide safety, environmental protection, or integrated pest management. Both general classes in every bundle qualify for that required credit.
I am certified in more than one category. What should I buy?
The bundle for each category you hold. Every bundle includes the SG1 Texas Laws class, so a second bundle repeats that one class - you only need to complete it once - and its other general class gives you more general training than the 2-CEU minimum. What matters is that you finish each category class you are certified in.
What do technicians need?
Licensed technicians must complete 8 hours of verifiable training each calendar year. These classes count toward that total; the full eight-class Technician Bundle is coming soon.
When do the credits have to be earned?
During the calendar year (January 1 through December 31) before the year you renew. Credits earned in the wrong calendar year don't count, and no CE is required during your first calendar year of certification.
Is this course approved by TDA?
Yes. Each class is approved by the TDA Structural Pest Control Service as its own standalone 1-CEU course with its own TDA course number: Laws #1004465, Pesticide Safety & PPE #1004472, Environmental Protection #1004440, IPM Principles #1004443, General Pest Control #1004469, Termite & WDI Control #1004448, Lawn & Ornamental #1004457, and Bed Bug Management #1004474. You can verify any of them in the TDA CEU course search at ceusearch.texasagriculture.gov.
Is this the same as your agricultural pesticide applicator course?
No. Agricultural applicators and structural pest control licensees are both regulated by TDA but under different programs with different CE rules. If you hold an agricultural commercial, noncommercial, or NCPS applicator license, you want our 5-CEU agricultural course instead.
Is this course approved by TDLR?
No, and it doesn't need to be. Structural pest control licensing in Texas is administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture's Structural Pest Control Service, not TDLR.
