This TDA-approved course is built for licensed Texas agricultural pesticide applicators — commercial, noncommercial, and noncommercial political subdivision (NCPS). Module A1: Texas Pesticide Laws & Regulations — 1 CEU
The legal foundation — the federal and state framework and every applicator's regulatory duties. Covers TDA and FIFRA, applicator categories and licensing, certification, exams and CEUs, restricted-use pesticides and dealer records, application and use records, why the label is the law, the Worker Protection Standard, storage, transport and disposal, and violations, enforcement and penalties. Satisfies the laws-and-regulations CEU.
Module A2: Integrated Pest Management — 1 CEU
How to make sound, economically justified pest-control decisions using the full IPM toolbox: what IPM is, pest identification, monitoring and scouting, economic and action thresholds, cultural, biological, mechanical and physical control, chemical control within IPM, resistance management and mode-of-action rotation, and building and evaluating a program. Satisfies the IPM CEU.
Module A3: Drift Minimization — 1 CEU
Keeping applications on-target — protecting neighbors, sensitive crops and the environment. Particle versus vapor drift, droplet size and spray quality, nozzle selection and drift-reduction technology, weather and inversions, boom height and equipment setup, pressure and adjuvants, buffer zones, label drift language, communication and records, and incident response. Satisfies the drift-minimization CEU.
Module A4: Calibration & Application Equipment — 1 CEU
The math and mechanics of applying the right amount, accurately and legally: why calibration matters, sprayer types and components, nozzles, flow rate and spacing, pre-calibration inspection, calibrating a boom sprayer, calculating application rate, mixing and loading tank math, granular and specialty equipment, cleaning and rinsate, and troubleshooting.
Module A5: Pesticide Safety, PPE & Emergencies — 1 CEU
Protecting the applicator: toxicity, routes of exposure, LD50 and signal words, reading the label for safety, PPE types and selection, using, maintaining and cleaning PPE, safe mixing and loading, hygiene and decontamination, recognizing poisoning, first aid and emergency response, spill response, and heat and fire safety.
